McConnel Smith & Johnson produced the conceptual design for Wittinglsow Amusements successful submission to the Luna Park Trust for the amusements precinct at Luna Park and worked as joint consultants on the detailed design of the precinct. The concept design took full account of the eclectic and romantic nature of the Luna Park of the 1930s, proposing a scheme with a vibrancy and intensity appropriate to contemporary Sydney. Important urban design issues were integral to the scheme. MSJ also provided art direction working in consultation with artists and artisans MSJ was awarded the RAIA Lachlan MacQuarie Award for Conservation.
